Mediator Style & Process Preferences

I believe every mediation is unique and requires a flexible approach tailored to the parties, issues, and circumstances of the dispute. My goal is to create an environment in which parties can fully evaluate their options and determine that resolution is preferable to continued conflict.Rather than adhering to a single style, I adapt my approach as needed, drawing from facilitative, evaluative, transformative, and directive techniques. My role is to use whatever tools are most likely to help the parties move toward resolution.Preparation is key. After reviewing mediation submissions, I conduct pre-mediation calls with counsel to identify the critical issues, understand settlement dynamics, and ensure the mediation begins with focus and momentum.I generally favor an initial joint session, as it provides an opportunity to establish a constructive tone, build trust, and allow the parties to be heard. Throughout the process, I work to earn the confidence of both counsel and clients. My guiding principle is simple: "Help me help you." The more openly parties communicate their interests and concerns, the more effectively I can assist them in reaching a durable resolution.

Technology Proficiency

I am proficient in conducting virtual mediations and arbitrations. My preference is Zoom but I am comfortable with other platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Webex. I am developing my AI protocols and have taken steps to ensure the highest level of security and confidentiality I can provide. I encourage parties to disclose their use of AI as appropriate.
