Experienced in-house counsel having been responsible for global litigation, dispute resolution and enterprise risk for a Fortune 100 science company as well as a long term litigation and risk management consultant for Minnesota’s largest commercial health insurer. Vast international experience having personally managed litigation, arbitrations, and disputes in multiple jurisdictions across the United States and around the world, including Israel, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Chile, France, Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom. As a former Am Law100 litigation partner and senior in-house counsel, has spent career leading and resolving complex, high-stakes disputes across industries and jurisdictions. As Associate General Counsel for Global Litigation and Dispute Resolution at 3M Company, was responsible for the company’s most significant contested matters worldwide, overseeing litigation strategy, enterprise risk, and reputational exposure across a global portfolio. Earlier, as a trial partner, first-chaired numerous jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and evidentiary proceedings. Across these roles, has managed disputes in courts and arbitral forums throughout the United States and internationally, and have worked extensively with regulators, corporate boards, and senior executives to evaluate risk and drive resolution. Primarily commercial disputes, breach of contract, disputes relating to LLC operating agreements; construction, real estate and land use matters. Multiparty disputes involving local government, community members and local businesses.

My mediation style is pragmatic, analytical, and results oriented. I approach each case with careful preparation, working to understand the legal issues, business and personal interests, and decision drivers that shape the dispute. I facilitate a process that allows parties to evaluate risk realistically and make informed decisions about resolution. I am comfortable using a range of mediation techniques—facilitative, evaluative, and analytical—depending on what is most effective given the circumstance. Throughout the process, I focus on disciplined reality-testing and clear communication. Procedurally, I prefer to begin with brief, focused mediation statements and confidential pre-mediation conversations with counsel so that the session itself can concentrate on problem-solving rather than presentations. Joint sessions are used selectively when they will advance understanding or help decision-makers engage constructively, but most of the work typically occurs in confidential caucus where parties can candidly explore options and risks. I actively manage the negotiation process to maintain momentum. My objective is to create a structured but flexible process that enables parties to reach a durable and well-considered resolution.
