Construction Experience: Prior to entering law school, was employed as a project manager by Fluor Daniel, Inc. Has worked on various types of construction projects, including high-rise office buildings, high-tech facilities, warehouses, and manufacturing plants located in Texas, Maryland, and Virginia. Legal Experience: Primarily involved in litigation, with a focus on construction law, including architect/engineer liability, construction defects, delay claims, mechanic's liens, and bond claims. Also assists clients in construction contract drafting and negotiation on a wide range of projects including corporate headquarters, office campuses, industrial, retail, muti-family and single family residential. In transactional and litigation matters, has represented owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and, to a lesser extent, subcontractors and suppliers. Has handled numerous property damage, delay, building accessibility, payment or personal injury claims on office buildings, retail complexes, grain mills, sports arenas, semiconductor manufacturing, apartment complexes, jails, schools, and single family residential, among others. Litigation experience includes bench trials and jury trials. Since 2002, has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law teaching courses in Construction Law and Construction Litigation.

Serves as a mediator in complex construction disputes, including multi-party property damage, construction partnership and other business entity disputes, change order and additional work disputes, design defect claims, complex mechanics’ lien matters, and other breach of contract claims.

I spend a considerable amount of time preparing for the mediation by obtaining copies of contracts, expert reports, and key correspondence along with the traditional mediation statements. I talk with each counsel of record prior to mediation so that the morning session is focused on negotiation and not on efforts to get me up to speed on the dispute.
