Primary areas of alternate dispute resolution practice include: arbitration and mediation in complex commercial disputes, including healthcare (primary emphasis on substantial payer/provider disputes), franchise, insurance, partnership/shareholder (including restrictive covenant disputes, deadlock/control disputes, business valuation disputes and labor/employment matters), real estate and land use, construction, consumer matters and financial services. Regularly serves as an expert witness in state and federal courts on issues of the standard of care for attorneys and concerning the award of attorneys' fees (including the potential applicability of a multiplier to the lodestar). Regularly appointed by state and federal Courts to serve as a Special Magistrate, Attorney Ad Litem and Custodian in a wide range of business and commercial disputes. Appointed as Governing Board Member of the South Florida Water Management District from 2010-2015. Appointed by Governor Charlie Crist in 2010 and reappointed by Governor Rick Scott in 2011. Appointed as Chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal from 2010-2014, appointed by Governor Charlie Crist in 2010. Appointed as State Attorney for the Prosecution of Economic Crimes, Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Special Assistant, 1995-1996. Appointed as Judicial Qualifications Commission, State of Florida, Special Prosecutor, 1991-1994.

Certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a state-wide mediator in 1993. Mediation experience in a broad range of commercial disputes, including general contract and business matters, large payer/provider health care disputes, intellectual property claims, shareholder and employment disputes (including restrictive covenants), real estate and construction, and probate and estate disputes.

I have been practicing law primarily in Florida’s state and federal courts (including appellate courts) for 40 years. My engagements usually involve substantial business disputes involving mid-to-large-cap entities, including Fortune 500 companies, their officers, other executives and board members, as well as high net worth individuals and professionals. My mediation practice blends my ample experience as a commercial litigation attorney where I seek to achieve optimal results quickly and efficiently. In this regard, I offer aggressive evaluative techniques in the mediation conference and a cost-benefit analysis of settling versus the risk and expense of continuing the dispute in court or before an arbitral tribunal.
