Served as mediator in over 50 cases over the last 10 years, primarily on complex business contractual and real estate disputes, including financial services industry disputes. Conducted many mediations for the US District Court Northern District of California and the Superior Court of Santa Clara County.

Contract and general business disputes, closely held business and partnership disputes, all types of real estate disputes, general business law, legal, accounting and real estate professional issues, alleged fraud, bad faith, unfair business practices, licensing and software issues, estate, trust and probate matters, elderly financial abuse and all types of alleged breaches of fiduciary duties.

I have a natural curiosity about most things which helps me to learn as much as I can prior to the mediation. I believe mediations are best when the approach is customized to the dispute at hand. I usually request mediation briefs from both sides that will be shared with the other side. I also invite the parties to provide a confidential brief (if they wish) that will not be shared with the other side. I have had success with starting the mediation with all parties and their counsel present to hear brief opening statements of position. I then utilize shuttle diplomacy to engage in candid and respectful exchanges of information. I listen closely and adapt my style depending on the parties wishes, the nature of the dispute and the dynamics between the parties. At times, I share my candid assessment of the case and the strength of the positions. My natural empathy and people skills assist in managing mediations that may involve strong emotions between the parties.

Familiar with multiple online platforms (i.e. Zoom, LoopUp, GoToMeeting, etc.). Have conducted two-week trials using that technology. Very open to using online platforms.
