Over twenty years of experience resolving complex employment and commercial matters as counsel and neutral. As an advocate, represent businesses and individuals, employers and employees, and plaintiffs and defendants. Also serve as a neutral arbitrator, investigator, and mediator. Substantive expertise includes employment law (wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability and leave management, pay equity, whistleblower, and executive employment matters), as well as commercial and contract disputes (business, partnership, and vendor contracts; breach of contract; executive compensation and restrictive covenants). As outside and in-house counsel, advised on compliance, investigations, and dispute resolution; drafted and negotiated employment, executive, and commercial contracts; and managed litigation involving wage and hour, discrimination, retaliation, restrictive covenant, and contract claims. Industry experience includes, but is not limited to, retail, hospitality, finance and banks, insurance, professional services, construction, aviation, health and fitness, and technology.

Served as a mediator for approximately 15 years and mediated over 100 matters. Cases have included employment, contract, commercial, tort, personal injury and other legal claims. Skilled in guiding parties toward practical, interest-based resolutions that balance legal risk, business needs, and human concerns. Serve on a number of panels in addition to the AAA, including the Southern District of New York Mediation Panel, the Eastern District of New York Mediation Panel and the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution.

Mediated a broad range of employment and commercial disuptes, including claims involving breach of contract, breach of a fiduciary duty, sexual and other forms of harassment, discrimination (age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, race, national origin), retaliation, wage and hour claims (including FLSA, NYLL, overtime, misclassification, tip pooling, commissions and bonuses). Experience with pro se parties and multi-party mediations.

While typically a facilitative and evaluative mediator focused on practical problem-solving, each mediation is unique and will be handled in a manner most appropriate for the specific parties and dispute. Candid discussion is encouraged, as is realistic consideration of the risks and costs of legal action. My ultimate goal is to assist the parties in achieving a self-determined resolution. Parties are expected to arrive prepared and open-minded. Joint sessions and caucuses will be used strategically to promote progress. Focus will be on sharing information so that each party can make an informed and rational decision on whether it is better for them to resolve their matter amicably or move forward with legal action.
