Mediator Style & Process Preferences
I am trained in the five, seven stage mediation model and the transformative model. I am able to evaluate the particular clients' needs and perform services accordingly. At all mediation sessions, I follow the clients' lead. The basic principles governing my practice are that I am hired to facilitate a process whereby the parties have the opportunity in a neutral, structured environment to identify issues, review positions, discuss options, recognize the other side's interests and work towards settlement of the issues in dispute. I am flexible yet structured and actively seek agreement when charged with that mission. I am organized and use that trait to facilitate productive sessions.
I accept and recognize that not all conflicts can be successfully mediated. Having been involved for eighteen years in the advocacy process, I see a much higher client satisfaction rate in mediation. The parties themselves decide what they want to resolve and the manner of resolution. The power to decide results resides in the four corners of the mediation room not with an outsider. I am honored by being a party to the disputants' willingness to engage in the hard work of conflict resolution. My mission is to bring peace and reason to stressful situations. I adhere to the UMA unless the parties specifically waive its provisions in whole or in part.
