Mediator Style & Process Preferences

As a mediator, my role transcends simple facilitation; a good mediator is the architect of possibility, creating space for parties to move beyond entrenched positions toward mutually acceptable solutions. The mediation process, when executed effectively, transforms adversarial relationships into collaborative problem-solving partnerships, offering a pathway that litigation simply cannot provide. The foundation of successful mediation rests on two critical pillars: thorough preparation through understanding each party's position before the process begins, and accurate assessment of participant engagement levels during the early stages. These elements determine whether mediation will flourish as a productive dialogue or stagnate as a mere formality. Effective mediation follows a natural progression that allows parties to move from positions to interests to options to agreements. I ensure each party has an opportunity to tell their story without interruption.
