Experience in a broad spectrum of disputes in commercial, construction, intellectual property, real estate, shareholder and joint venture, healthcare and family matters. Active practice in dispute resolution counsel work. Mediated first commercial case in 2007. In the last five years, mediated more than 100 commercial disputes. Most mediated cases involve parties engaged in litigation or arbitration, awaiting trial or awaiting appeal to the Court of Appeal. The disputed sums in cases ranged from below $100,000 to over $50 million. Current appointments include serving as Chair of the Society of Mediation Professionals (Singapore) and Co-Chair of the Mediation Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). IMI-certified mediator accredited with many distinguished institutions, including Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC), Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA), Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL), National Mediation Accreditation Scheme (NMAS, Australia), Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR, UK), Regent’s University London (School of Psychotherapy & Psychology), State Courts Centre for Dispute Resolution, Family Justice Courts and Dispute Resolution and Compensation Panel (Mediation Panel), National Electricity Market of Singapore. Actively involved in the training of current and future mediators. Principal Trainer of SMC’s Adjunct Training Faculty and Teaching Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education. Deliver mediation training to students, judges, lawyers, professionals and business executives in many parts of the world - Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Fiji, Qatar, United States, Paris and Vienna. Member of the Working Groups of the IBA-VIAC CDRC Mediation and Negotiation Competition and ICC International Mediation Competition. On the panel of judges in the 2016 finals of both competitions.

Primary issues include: Commercial disputes, including claims arising out of cross-border supply, distribution and sale of goods and services and manufacturing contracts, and disputes and claims arising out of employment contracts. Building and construction disputes, including claims arising out of standard form and ad hoc building, engineering and construction contracts, negligence in design and workmanship, breaches of statutory duties, extension of time claims, claims for variations and prolongation costs, and conflicts arising out of project execution. Intellectual property disputes, including claims for breach of copyright, patent, trademark, registered design and confidence. Real estate disputes, including claims for commissions, disputes arising out of auctions, and sale / purchase of properties located in various parts of the world. Shareholder and joint venture disputes, including claims for breach of fiduciary duties, and conflicts between shareholders, lenders and joint venture partners. Healthcare disputes, including claims involving patients, doctors, healthcare professionals and hospitals. Family disputes, including claims arising out of trusts and wills, probate and letters of administration, matrimonial disputes and cross-border conflicts involving parties based in different parts of the world.

I consider it a distinct and unique privilege and honour to be appointed by parties and counsel as their peacemaker, to mediate their disputes and conflicts. My goal for each mediation is to provide a safe and structured environment for parties and counsel to communicate their views and concerns, and negotiate closure of the conflict. I treat each case as distinct and unique, and conduct each mediation in a manner that best reflects the spirit and underlying collaborative nature of mediation. My continuing work and almost three decades of experience as an attorney / counsel ensures my familiarity with international litigation and arbitration processes and assures parties of my ability to work in tandem with counsel. I am known to parties and counsel who have engaged me as a highly-trained, unassuming, dedicated, passionate and proactive mediator who will do my utmost to help bring parties to a closure of their conflict.
