Civil litigator for 25 years with five years of experience as an appellate judge, hearing cases and authoring opinions in appeals in civil and criminal matters. As general counsel, oversaw and managed all litigation and transactional matters for a 10 campus system including advising the Board of Regents, President, executives, faculty and administration. Commercial: Complex litigation; commercial contracts; insurance coverage/subrogation; patent and licensing agreements; real estate/development contracts; partnership/fiduciary responsibility disputes; and, vendor agreements. Construction: Commercial, residential, golf course development and membership rights, state and municipal construction projects. Employment: Employment and labor disputes involving executives; administrators; faculty grievances and contract negotiations; and coaching contracts.

I place a heavy emphasis on information gathering during early stages of the mediation to ensure that I have good understanding of the parties' important legal positions, challenges, and important interests. When needed, I can draw upon my legal, judicial and business executive background and experience to help parties evaluate their respective strengths and challenges in the underlying dispute. This evaluative approach is often helpful during the latter stages of a mediation to help focus and advance towards resolution. Ultimately, it is up to the parties to finalize a resolution, but I believe my skills as a mediator who can apply both a facilitative and evaluative techniques can help to increase the likelihood of success.
