Litigated wage and hour disputes. Maritime and Transportation: Litigated maritime cases, including Jones Act, collision/allision, cargo and shipping, marine insurance, vessel construction and repair, and sales and leasing contract claims. Tried a two-week vessel construction case to verdict in federal court. Also litigated numerous ports, trucking and railway claims. Insurance: Litigated commercial general liability, coverage, common law and statutory bad faith claims, including class action involving claims of improper insurance policies. Personal Injury: Litigated and mediated personal injury claims, including wrongful death and serious injury, construction related accidents, product liability, mass tort, and medical malpractice.

Participated in more than 50 mediations as an attorney and 800 as mediator. Mediated over 300 multi-party cases. Amounts in controversy ranged from $25,000 to $10,000,000. Commercial: Mediated cases involving breach of contract, partnership and shareholder disputes, consumer protection, unfair competition, copyright and trade secrets, banking and finance, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and conversion, successor liability, fraudulent transfers, class actions, and professional negligence. Employment: Mediated cases involving compensation disputes, breach of employment obligations, duty of loyalty, and non-competition clauses. Mediated wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and hostile work environment cases. Having spent the last 25 years of my career litigating business, commercial and personal disputes on both sides of the table, I have seen the toll that litigation can take financially and emotionally. My innate ability and desire for helping parties in a conflict come together to find creative solutions is what prompted me to start my mediation and arbitration practice. I am a devoted believer in alternatives to a competitive and risky process and help parties work cooperatively to find the most favorable result for everyone involved. Getting individuals and businesses out of risky and costly situations before they spiral out of control, even where it looks like there is no solution, and helping people solve their problems is what motivates me and is most gratifying. I bring an understanding of both the business issues and the human elements at play that impact decision-making and are causes of impasse, along with an ability to connect with people, listen and influence decisions.
