Facilitative-evaluative. I work with parties who have often already been through the court system and are ready to resolve their matter without further rounds of motions and adjournments. Before any mediation session, I meet with counsel and the parties (or with unrepresented parties directly) to understand the issues, confirm that financial disclosure and any necessary expert reports are complete, and identify what is actually in dispute. I do not schedule a session until the groundwork is done. Mediation sessions are typically half-day, structured around the specific issues that need resolution: custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, and treatment of separate property. I hear directly from the parties, not just from their attorneys. I caucus with each side when the circumstances call for it. My goal is an agreement that is specific, enforceable, and built to last. I mediate in person and virtually via Google Meet.
