A good mediation process is one focused on providing the parties with a calm and nonjudgmental forum to resolve their disputes. I endeavor to be a very engaged listener in order to understand the key factors of importance to the parties, legally and factually. I require and carefully review advance submission of confidential position statements. Depending upon the needs of the case I schedule separate pre-mediation conferences with counsel (and their client or client representatives as appropriate). I also sometimes request additional written submissions on particularly factual or legal questions as necessary to focus the discussion of key issues at mediation. I tailor the mediation itself to fit the particular needs of the case based upon the personalities, interests, and damages sought in a particular case. In this regard, I usually prefer to speak with the client’s directly and promote their active participation in the mediation process.

Familiar with various online platforms (i.e. Zoom, Court Connect, etc.) and willing to conduct arbitrations virtually. Preference for sharing electronic documents throughout the case, with hard copies of exhibits if preferred by the parties.
