Took a 40-hour Performance-Based Mediation Skills training through CCR (Center for Conflict Resolution) and is a mediator for Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Will Counties. To help resolve issues in a more efficient manner, became an arbitrator though the Circuit Courts of Cook, DuPage, and Lake’s Mandatory Arbitration programs and privately through AAA, DeMars, and FINRA. Over the years, conducted hundreds of unique hearings in various areas of law as well as in various forums. As an attorney, with a focus in arbitration and mediation, honed listening skills and the ability to stay neutral in extremely difficult situations while managing heavy caseloads.

Since 2018, worked with circuit courts and communities in alternative dispute resolution. As an arbitrator participating in Mandatory Arbitration programs, listen to facts, review evidence, determine outcomes, and issue awards to prevailing parties of hearings involving subrogation, personal injury, and property damage resulting from motor vehicle accidents. Later, became a mediator in 2021, where began assisting landlords and tenants in avoiding eviction by pursuing mutually beneficial alternatives, conducting settlement negotiations, and drafting agreements. In 2023, became a member of the Association of Attorney-Mediator where received Advanced Mediation training to supplement the 40-hour Performance-Based Mediation Skills and Mortgage Foreclosure trainings received from the Center for Conflict Resolutions in 2022 and 2023. Also a member of the Illinois Local Government Lawyers Association. As a Local Adjudication Judge, presided over hearings involving ordinance and building code violations including but not limited to rowdy funerals, retail theft, public intoxication, bartender credential compliance, public nuisances, vandalism, public fighting, battery, administrative tows, and parking violations; conducted trials when a settlement was not agreed upon; and accessed liability to determine fines. As an attorney, handle small claims focused on consumer debt. Where conflict arises, negotiate a reasonable settlement that satisfies both the creditor and the consumer. Also worked with both senior citizens and minors. Drafted many powers of attorneys and TODIs (Transfer on Death Instruments) at workshops conducted by CDEL (Center for the disability an and Elder Law) as well as became a member of their Young Professionals Board. Additionally, served as a Child Rep/GAL (Guardian ad Litem) where represented children, interviewed parents, and reported to the court what appeared to be in the best interest of the child(ren). Worked with parents to enroll them in supervised visitation programs which also helped facilitate better relationships with each other. Other areas of domestic relations involved in include: dissolution of marriage, child support, parenting time, and order of protection. While working in telecommunications from 2014-2020, served as a liaison between 3rd party vendors, landowners, municipalities, cell phone carriers, and tower companies who wanted to upgrade existing equipment or add equipment for the first time to existing towers, rooftops, or water towers. As an agent, researched prime locations to acquire, submitted term proposals, drafted leases and purchase agreements, secured necessary permitting, and ensured regulatory compliance. Once the deal was complete, filed a memorandum of lease with the appropriate counties.

Served as a mediator in over 100 cases, primarily in matters involving evictions, fee disputes, breach of contract, residential disputes, stalking no contact, juvenile/family disputes, and employer/employee disputes regarding discrimination. Disputes have included two parties or three-plus parties. Additionally, many disputes have had an interpreter present. Disputes were conducted virtually, telephonically, in person, or hybrid.

I prefer a win-win over a win-lose or lose-lose situation. I believe that one size does not fit all. Therefore, I like to apply the method or combination of methods that suits the parties before me. Ideally, I'd like to start with all parties together in attempt to make sure everybody is on the same page as far as what the issues are and the outcomes they'd like to obtain. Once I have a working knowledge of the dispute, I like to caucus or meet with each party individually to further discuss their needs and interests as well as possible solutions. Finally, I like to bring all parties back together to present proposals and see if they have reached an agreement. However, I will deviate from this process if necessary. I am open to mediating via zoom (or similar virtual platform), in-person, or hybrid.
