Extensive experience in family and matrimonial law gained from the perspective of the appellate judiciary, the trial judiciary, the active litigation practice and the alternative dispute practices. Issues addressed include, the categorization of assets as separate and marital, evaluation of assets (including retirement assets, RSUs, real estate and other complex investments), the division of such assets, the basic tax implications of such divisions, support issues for both spouses and children and custodial issues revolving around children (decision making processes and parenting plans). Currently, the entire practice is devoted to alternative dispute processes to resolve family and matrimonial matters. These processes include mediation, Collaborative Practice, parent coordination and prenuptial agreements.

Served as a mediator in family law and matrimonial matters in over 100 cases involving all manner of issues including equitable distribution of assets, child custody, parenting plans, spousal support, child support and counsel fees. Mediated matters which involved intimate partner violence and power imbalances. Conducted settlement conferences in the Kings County Matrimonial Part for 16 years.

The mediation process is one centered on the parties rather than the attorneys. One of my primary roles as the mediator in a family or matrimonial matter is to facilitate a respectful, candid and robust exchange of information and ideas. Only then can we build options for resolution. We need to develop transparency so that all parties can be confident that the resolution encompasses all assets and resources. Further, when necessary, I can impart my knowledge gained in the court system and litigation system to help guide an analysis of possible options for resolution. I see my role as a mediator as also being a guide. I endeavor to help both parties over the hurdle of divorce in a respectful and dignified manner as they start the next phase of their lives for themselves and their families.
