I strive for a healthy and holistic process for the whole family, and work to keep people out of the court process when appropriate and possible. To that end, I emphasize listening to each party in mediation and finding areas of agreement from which larger agreements can grow. I rely on my legal expertise to provide context when possible while encouraging parties to work however practicable to reach compromise and agreement. I trust my clients to know what is best for them and help each party find their voice to advocate for their own needs and desires throughout the mediation process. I emphasize transparency and open communication in my practice in regard to everything from processing and vocalizing emotions, to sharing discovery, to the consideration of options presented by one party or another. This assists not only in a more open approach to difficult conversations, but the ability to get to the heart of issues without glossing over details which may be of great importance to one or both parties.
